Fundraising at Tesco

"Over the past 2 years Robert davies health and fitness have set up a strong partnership with local store Tesco located in trostre. We aim to help the local community by working together and also raising money for local charities"

Over the last few years the support that we have had from Robert Davies has been invaluable. As the majority of our fundraising in store focuses on health and fitness we have worked together and been able to raise over £4,000 in the last few years.

How did RD Health and Fitness contribute?

During the week 6th July - 10th July, RD health and fitness allowed the school to loan a spin bike. The bike was placed on the stage and during PE lessons, children who wanted to, had the opportunity to use the bike for a set amount of time. The pupils then competed to see how far they could get in the allowed time. During this time money was raised and added to the total raised. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the event, thanks so much for your support!!!

Members of Robert Davies Health & Fitness set themselves a flip'n tiresome target

The team, all RD members wanted to test their bodies and raise some money for charity. The Flip'n Tyre'd Charity Challenge was their solution.

The Flip'n Tyre'd challenge was set up to raise funds for both Kidney Research UK and Ty Bryngwyn, the Llanelli Hospice. The plan was to flip a 300lb tyre from Burry Port to Llanelli. On the day of the event the team of fourteen 'flippers' and two support staff set off from Burry Port Harbour at 1100, they reached their destination at 1400. It took the team a total of 3 hours and an incredible 3,755 flips to complete the challenge.

To date the team have raised a staggering £3,250. Whilst there are still monies to be collected, they are hoping to break £3,750 in total!

Field Visit by Coleg Sir Gar

On Thursday the 6 Feb 2014 RD Health & Fitness and KickStartPT facilitated an educational field visit by third year degree students from local education provider, Coleg Sir Gar.

The purpose of the visit was to further develop the learning of the Sports Coaching and Performance degree students who were undergoing a Strength & Conditioning module, namely Plyometrics.

The day was broken into two distinct phases. Initially the students consolidated their theoretical understanding of Plyometrics by way of a group workshop. Once this was complete the majority of the field visit was spent going through the practical application of Plyometrics. Students focussed on Plyometric programme design, safety considerations and movement analysis.

The visited proved to be very successful; it allowed the students to develop their understanding of Plyometrics and it served to reinforce the strong links between RD's and the wide community.
